of Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority, Inc. After searching unsuccesfully for a sorority that didn't force her to compromise her religious beliefs, she asked her mother, Dr. Althia F. Ali, to develop an organizational structure which led to the establishment of the first Islamic-based sorority. |

Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority, Inc. was founded by the daughter-mother team of Imani Canty and Dr. Althia F. Ali. Since its founding on April 3, 2005, the sorority has established five chapters that serve seven states:

National Grand Chapter - established on November 13, 2005. Membership in this chapter is reserved for members of the Board of Directors and honorary members |

Beta Chapter - established on July 22, 2006. This chapter serves the Washington, DC, metro area (including Northern Virginia and Maryland). |
