BETA CHAPTER SOROR KESHA ABDUL-MATEEN COMPLETES HER RACE
_______________________________________________________________________
On June 5, more than 40,000 people came together as a living testament to the power of individuals to impact the world. Their impact was tremendous. The event raised more than $4.5 million to fund breast cancer programs for women in need throughout the National Capital Area and abroad.Beta Chapter Soror Kesha Abdul-Mateen was among those involved in the 5k Race for the Cure® as a part of the team "For the Twins." Her team raised over $1,000 for the Cure, of which she personally raised $225.
In looking back on the experience, Soror Kesha says, "It was a great experience to see the enthusiasm the participants had, from FUNNY names for teams to great costumes. There were women, men and children walking to eradicate breast cancer. We walked the race in one hour and 33 minutes. Next year I hope, inshaAllah, to double my funds and have my own team. I thank Allah (SWT) for the experience, and insha'Allah I pray to make more of a difference next year."
